I lift weights and do cardio 4X a week. I only eat chicken and am constantly trying to get extra protein. I heard cottage cheese may be a good way. Do any of you weight lifters eat it? Is it as healthy as I've heard it is? The consistency scares me but I am willing to try it for extra protein. I bought one of those cottage cheese doubles w/ raspberry sauce but I am afraid the sauce might be too much like a jelly and have too much sugar. Are those okay for 1st timers? It has 14 g of sugar I believe. Let me know your insights on cottage cheese please :)
Answer:
Cottage cheese is a very good way to add protein to your diet. There are different brands that have different tastes and consistencies. Breakstone is a very tasty brand. So is weight watchers. The packs of cottage cheese that come with a side of fruit are kind of sugary. Add your own fruit. Try natural peaches or peaches in LIGHT syrup.
cottage cheese although not necesarrily the best tasting thing is one all bodybuiders, lifting enthusiasts, or just people who are in general looking to stay heatlhy should eat. in just a half a cup of cottage cheese there is 13-15 grams of protein. i would say eat cottage cheese with whatever fruit u like but remeber not too much fruit or there will be that extra sugar factor. also you said you only eat chicken and you need a balanced diet so you must add some dairy in there. cottage cheese is good to eat before bedtime becasue it has slow digesting casein protein...give it a try, good luck!
Try Cottage Cheese and peaches or pears. My absolute favorite thing wth cottage cheese is fresh diced tomates with a little salt and pepper.
my 16month old has always been a self proclaimed vegetarian never eating meat which he needs for healthy development. He's always loved cottage cheese and other cheeses though. when I talked to his pediatrician he said as long as he's eating alot of cottage cheese and other dairy he doesnt have to eat meat he gets enough protien from that. They even checked the protien in his blood and it was several points higher than average meat eaters his age. I was sold.Eat the cottage cheese but skip the sauce stuff.
